At the national level the University is awarded the second best performance state agricultural university for the year 2009-10 by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research. The Dean of Agriculture of the university Dr.T. Yellamanda Reddy, received the award on behalf of the university from the Hon’ble Union Minister for Agriculture and Food Processing Sri. Sharad Pawar ji at a national level meeting organized by the ICAR recently in New Delhi. This award is given to the institute which imparts high quality agricultural education. Also, another criteria is the number of students selected for the national level fellowships like Junior Research Fellowships at under graduate level and Senior research fellowships at National level. In ANGRAU every year 600 under graduate and 300 post graduate students pass out. Most of the post graduate students compete for senior research fellowships and National Eligibility Tests. The under graduate students appear for Junior Research Fellowships to pursue their further studies out side the state of Andhra Pradesh. This award is given based on the performance of the students of ANGRAU in all these national competitive examinations in general and Junior Research fellowships in particular.
